Change Creatively

I used to start all my speeches the same way: “Hi everyone, I am Aaron Wang.” But when I finished writing today's speech script and began rehearsing, I realized just how boring the unchangeable things are. It's like listening to a 2-hour monotone math lecture about why one plus one equals two—puts audience to sleep faster than counting sheep! So, I thought, how can I make the change? How can I start this speech more creatively, just like how can I make 1 plus 1 equation exciting enough to keep all the audiences awake, especially in this cold winter? Because everybody knows that sheep in the winter is not for counting, but for hot pot! Hopefully, I find a way to be creative, to inspire some variation. Here in DDP, I can receive a lot of applause when I'm being myself.
The very first step was attending the summer camp at Shattuck Saint Mary’s. I learnt so many new things which really contributed to my creativity, also I received so much happiness and applause here which really increased my confidence. Here, I saved a life, for the first time in my life. Although it was a banana, I am still obsessed by the magic of the real application of biology. Here, I mastered the use of a single-lens reflex camera, but I need to say sorry for my friends. I promise you; I was not using the excuse of photography assignments to deliberately take ugly photos of you. And I still remember that night when my friends and I finished acting for the talent show, how much applause and compliments we received from our students, from teachers and counselors in Shattuck-St. Mary’s. After that show, so many people praised the fun we brought. Thinking back, we were just playing the role of GG Bond, a normal anime character in China, but we received applause and cheers not only from our students but also from all the counselors and teachers in Shattuck-St. Mary’s who were unfamiliar with our culture. I am very grateful for that. I think it may also be the reason why G11 and G12 students love the memory and people there so much. And I will make the second promise, all the G10 students will love Shattuck Saint Mary’s after studying there.
The very second step was attending the business building project in DDP. For this project, we choose to conduct psychology organizations on campus. The encouragement and help from my teachers and teammates make me a creative person, and I never knew I was a business-minded person until now. I am really thankful that I can participate in this project, because it offers me an opportunity to showcase my business talent. I am also really thankful for our team collaboration, advice from all the teachers and those of you who filled out our questionnaires carefully. Without these, we wouldn't be able to carry out this project that can truly help all students at Tianyi High School. Lastly,it seems that no one does not allow me to make adervertise during the senior speech: if any G10 and G11 juniors are interested in our project and want to take over, feel free to contact us!
If you think my speech wakes you up, thank you teacher for recommending me to stand here and share my story. If my speech puts you to sleep, I still thank you teachers for helping me avoid the embarrassment by collecting all the electronic devices here. That’s all for today’s speech, thanks for all your patient listening.
